Activity Steps

Description

The certificate for this activity is for NON-PHYSICIANS.

In this CME article, the authors evaluate the effectiveness of psychoanalysis by conducting an extensive search of electronic databases supplemented by a manual search and personal contact with authors of unpublished studies. The authors then conduct a meta-analysis to determine pre-treatment to post-treatment change in patients. The authors conclude that psychoanalysis does effect change in patients, but caution that their results are tempered by several limitations.

Purpose of Activity

To investigate the empirical evidence for psychoanalysis by means of a systematic review of the literature and a meta-analysis of the research data.
