  1. Identify patients at high risk for genetic cancer syndromes and refer them for genetic testing whenever appropriate.
  2. Encourage patients with known genetic mutations to undergo surgical prophylaxis at the appropriate age to minimize the risk of cancer development.
  3. Explain that routine annual surveillance of patients with known mutations does not drop off after initial management.
